A road train has burst into flames in Western Australia, causing the closure of a part of the North-West Coastal Highway.
Police say the accident has caused a hazardous chemical situation and they have closed the North-West Coastal Highway in both directions about two kilometres south of the Onslow turn-off.
They say the highway will be closed for up to 48 hours, however attempts are being made to create an alternative route around the accident site for smaller vehicles only.

I photographed the storm below on the lonely stretch of highway north of Nanutarra Roadhouse in the Pilbara.
The first photo is interesting as it shows dust near the ground below some ragged scud hanging at the base of some cumulus.
Although it probably wasn't severe this storm did produce flash flooding on the North West Coastal Highway, along with a nice lightning show.

The people are Meriwether Lewis (who passed Haystack Butte 199 years ago and called it Shishequaw) and several members of the Clary family to whom I am related by marriage, who celebrated both of the weddings in our Wedding Bales essay, and who once ranched on the land surrounding -- Haystack Butte.
Coastal Oregon can be damp and cold enough to make even the summer traveler wear winter clothes and the hay maker to wrap his bales in plastic covers more reminiscent of wet Wales, than of the hot, dry American West.
