From 1940 to 1970, North Kingstown operated a landfill at the property and accepted an estimated 19,000 tons of household waste and demolition materials annually.
North Kingstown is currently developing recreational facilities on the property, and a majority of landfilled materials have been covered with varying depths of sand and loam.
