In 1931 the organization's name was changed from Interfraternity Conference to National Interfraternity Conference.
At the congressional reception, the leadership of the NIC, National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), and the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations (NALFO) sponsor a series of meetings and receptions to advance an agenda that is positive toward fraternal organizations.
The NIC is led by a board of directors comprised of 15 volunteers from member fraternities.

MANHATTAN -- A Kansas State University fraternity and the former president of K-State's Interfraternity Council have both received the 2003 Award of Distinction, the highest national honor presented by the North-American Interfraternity Conference.
Rundle served as president of the K-State Interfraternity Council from April 2002 to April 2003 and as president of his fraternity, Beta Theta Pi, from 2001-2002.
K-State is the first school to have a group and an individual receive the award in the same year from the conference.
