The province is bordered to the north by Botswana in the west and by Limpopo Province in the east; to the east by Gauteng; to the south by Free State in the east and Northern Cape in the west.
In November ’85 Warren annexed the territory between the Orange River in the south, the Molopo and Nossob rivers in the north (both of these watercourses are in fact normally dry), German South West Africa in the west, and Griqualand West and the ZAR on the east as British Bechuanaland.
The districts that made up the “independent” homeland state of Bophuthatswana, except for the district of Thaba Nchu (which was returned to the Free State) and the subdistrict Moretele 2, which is now part of Mpumalanga.

Over time, Kuru grew from a community-based organization to a regional support institution that operates in two districts in Botswana, Ghanzi and North West District (Ngamiland).

San have been applying for land at Land Boards since their inception in Botswana 1970, as can be seen, for example, in the efforts of Ju/'hoansi San to apply for land at Dobe and /Xai/Xai in Ngamiland (North West District) in the early 1970s.
A significant concern of San and other peoples residing in northeastern Namibia over the past several years was the possibility of the establishment of a large refugee resettlement facility with as many as 21.000 refugees in the M'Kata region of Tsumkwe District West in the area where the Ju/'hoansi, !Xun, Mpungu, and Vasekele San reside.
Most of the ranches (over 90%) that will see dispossession will be in the Western Central District sandveld and the Botletle River region of Botswana.

Mafikeng was, after all, the administrative headquarters of the Bechuanaland Protectorate (Botswana), from 1895 to 1965.

Magama, who is also Gaborone South MP, indicated that already, the BCP and BNF have cooperated to take the chairmanship of the Kgatleng District Council from the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
The BCP has already said they will support the BNF in the by-election for the Gaborone West North parliamentary seat.
BCP executive secretary Morwadi Morwadi said yesterday that although it may not be official yet, some party faithful in the said Ramotswa Central ward have informed him that the BNF had promised to throw their weight behind the BCP candidate.
