The decision of the League’s Committee was that the 1,2,3,5 structure would be implemented for season 2006/7 and they would endeavour to implement a sixth First Division in the North for season 2007/8.
The dispute centres on an unprecedented “U” turn by the FA League’s Committee at the end of September 2005 when they decided to change the decision notified prior to the start of the current season to all participating Leagues and clubs that they were to implement a 1,2,3,6 structure in 2006.

The club became founder members of the Northern Counties East League in 1982 and was in the Premier Division from 1992 until 1999 when it was unfortunately relegated to the First Division.
However with a glut of fixtures, and possibly with the knowledge that promotion to the re-structured Unibond League was not an option due to ground grading, at the season’s end we were not able to capitalise and finished in a creditable 5th position.
The present Pickering Town team bears little resemblance to the team which was relegated, it is a team based heavily on youth, and with a number of exciting new young players, and of course the experienced players whom the club value tremendously we look forward to another exciting and successful season.
