Ms Thomson said the Northern Grampians Shire had been awarded a $7,500 grant to assist in providing public Internet access for the local community by upgrading existing computer equipment and assisting with ongoing Internet connection costs.
Northern Grampians Shire Chief Executive Gina Lyons said the council had a strong history of providing the local community with Internet access.
The Northern Grampians Shire was one of 67 community groups to receive a grant in the first round of funding from the program.

Northern Grampians Economic Development Unit project officer, Clyde Humphries, said the University of Ballarat and the Wimmera Business Centre were selected to deliver the program because of their expertise, experience and resources.
