The Fusiliers Museum of Northumberland strives to meet the needs of families and is committed to the principle of lifelong learning.
Teachers who might be interested in arranging a school visit to the Museum are encouraged to contact staff to arrange a preparatory meeting with Museum staff to discuss the visit.
Please also note that the spiral stairs to the upper floors of the museum are narrow and steep and children should be warned to take care when climbing them.

In 1958 the regiment joined The Fusilier Brigade, which comprised The Royal Northumberland, Fusiliers, The Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment) and The Lancashire Fusiliers.

'One of the divisional units, the 9th Royal Northumberland Fusiliers, had voyaged to Halifax with other units aboard the Warwick Castle, a ship of 20,000 tons, and the men were not very pleased when attempts were made to cram them into some of the comparatively less luxurious American ships.
On the 10th February "Tomforce" was formed, the 4th Royal Norfolks along with the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers formed this force under Lt-Col.L.C.Thomas.

The R. Scots Fusiliers were the first to meet this attack and were severely handled.
A and D Coys were sent to their support and continued doing a Flank guard movement until dark when the Battalion concentrated on the high ground W of Frameries with the Lincolnshire regiment on the right and Worcestershire Regiment on our left.

Hi I didn't see the original question, but if Scots Fusiliers was mentioned then it likely a reference to the Royal Scots Fusiliers which amalgamated with the Highland Light Infantry to form the Royal Highland Fusiliers.
These scottish regiments have no connection with the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers which was an amalgam of the Royal Fusiliers, the Lancashire Fusiliers, the Royal Warwickshire Fusiliers and the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers.

During the war the Northumberland Fusiliers gained a total of 67 Battle Honours, 5 members of the Regiment won the Victoria Cross and the total causalities for the Regiment between August 1914 and November 1918 was 16,000 men killed.
From a pre war establishment of 2 Regular Battalions and 1 Reserve, by the end of the war the Northumberland Fusiliers had formed a total of 51 Battalions for war service.

Captain Francis Buckley was one such man, and he set about compiling the official history of the 7th Northumberland Fusiliers, which has become the definitive work on the Regiment.
