Belford Castle is a Norman earthwork motte and bailey fortress, which gave defence to a strong stone tower, by 1415.
The low oval motte, now supports a 19th century Gothic farmhouse which absorbed, earlier foundations in its construction and to the south a large bailey can be traced by its wide surrounding ditch.
The site is visible from a public footpath that runs to the west of the farm, from the B6349.

MP Paul Macklin and MPP Dr. Doug Galt recommended to the Federal Electoral Boundary Commission (FEBC) that the Northumberland riding be expanded to include all of Quinte West.
This recommendation was included in the report tabled by the FEBC in the House of Commons on March 26: The new riding is to be called Northumberland-Quinte West.
In previous years, the municipality of Quinte West has been split between two electoral ridings: A large portion, including military homes in Middleton Park and Sidney Ward, was part of Prince Edward-Hastings, while the rest of the area was part of Northumberland.

The village of Great Tosson is situated in central Northumberland, about 4km west of the small market town of Rothbury in the upper Coquet Valley, and lies on the east side of Northumberland National Park.

For some reason the siderite on the back side of most of these has more of a matte luster.
EP-5 Quartz epimorph of Fluorite, with Sphalerite and Siderite - North String, Coalcleugh Mine, West Allendale, Northumberland, England $50; The front (top photo) of this specimen has a very slight rub, which can be seen in the upper center part of the specimen.
The reverse side of this dome shaped example is very sharp, and the matte luster siderite is light enough to revel the great detail of the epimorphs.
