The Northumbrian smallpipes (also known as the Northumbrian pipes) are bellows-blown bagpipes from the north-east of England.
There are usually four drones on the Northumbrian pipes, which can be tuned to several different combinations of pitch for playing in different keys.
The earliest bagpipe tunes from Northumberland are from William Dixon's manuscript from the 1730's.

The bagpipe museum is the home of the W. A Cocks collection which was bequeathed to the Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle upon Tyne.
