The Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) is a college athletic conference which operates in the northwestern United States.
The conference was formed when its ten members split from the Pacific West Conference.
At the conclusion of the 2005-2006 season Humboldt State University left the GNAC entirely for the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

In 2005, Cheek was named co-Great Northwest Athletic Conference coach of the year, guiding the Lumberjacks to a 54-6 overall finish.
However, after losing the Pacific West Conference championship to Hawaii Pacific, HSU avenged the defeat in the regional tournament held at UC Davis (where some of the team’s greatest wins have been played) to beat Hawaii Pacific twice and advanced to Salem, Va., for a shot at the national title.
In 1998, the Lumberjacks captured the final Northern California Athletic Conference title, posting a 60-7 overall record and advancing to the West Regional Tournament.

Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association: Winston-Salem State is leaving the conference after the 2005-06 season to move to the NCAA Division I level in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in 2006-07.
Gulf South Conference: Central Arkansas is leaving the conference to compete at the NCAA Division I level in the Southland Conference beginning in the 2006-07 season.
Heartland Conference: Western New Mexico departed from the conference at the conclusion of the 2005-06 season to become a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in 2006-07.

SPOKANE, Wash. - For scoring the goal that clinched the Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular season title, junior Leah Wymer (Bothell, Wash.) has been named the GNAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week, announced Monday morning by the conference office.
The goal was Wymer's ninth of the season, first on the team and second in the conference.
