	Norwegian Campaign - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		One of the final acts of the Norwegian authorities before dispersement was the promotion of Otto Ruge to the rank of Major General and appointment to Commander-in-Chief of the Norwegian Army, responsible for overseeing the resistance to the German invasion.
		The Norwegian 6th Division was located far to the north, close to the Finnish border and not in contact with any of the German occupied areas.
		The failure of the central campaign is considered one of the direct causes of the Norway Debate, which resulted in the resignation of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain and the appointment of Winston Churchill to the office.

		When the Germans attacked on the morning of the 21st, the Norwegians were supported by a section of Royal Engineers who happened to be in the area.
		The Namsos Campaign was not a success for the Allies, though the troops and naval forces and their commanders acquitted themselves well.
		The southern arm of the attack which landed at Åndalsnes, was soon drawn into a fight alongside the Norwegians to block the northward advance of the Germans from Oslo and was no longer available to attack Trondheim.

		When NRK Petre started planning their new campaign for young people, the Suicide Research and Prevention Unit at the University of Oslo (SSFF) and the project manager for the National Plan for Suicide Prevention were included as important partners throughout the entire planning, implementation and evaluation phases of the campaign.
		The campaign's approach was to speak directly to those who are at risk of committing suicide, and also to tell the remainder of the population that suicide is a problem in modern Norwegian society.
		The campaign was aired during a two-week period, from 5 to 28 February 1999.

	POLES IN THE NORWEGIAN CAMPAIGN OF 1940 - Part II
		On December 8, 1940 Gen. Carl Gustav Fleischer, the Commander of the Norwegian 6 Division, which fought shoulder to shoulder with the Poles in the Northern Norway, visited the "Polish Brigade Narvik" (as the Scots called remnants of the Brigade reorganized into Highland Rifle Battalion) in Tentsmuir, Scotland.
		All soldiers of the Brigade were awarded a commemorative lanyard in the Norwegian national colours: red, white and blue, with the Norwegian national emblem - the Golden Lion.
		For the Poles living in Poland and abroad, the name of Narvik and the history of the Norwegian Campaign of 1940 has a special place in their hearts.

	NORWAY, Landmine Monitor Report 1999
		The Norwegian Campaign to Ban Landmines was the main proponent of a Norwegian ban on APMs and the campaign was active in lobbying various political parties and Parliamentary committees in 1995 to promote the ban issue domestically.
		According to the Norwegian interpretation of the Treaty, the American-owned mines on Norwegian soil are defined as outside of Norwegian concern.
		The specific amount spent on the destruction is not readily available, both because of the time frame of the total destruction process and because the Ministry of Defense claims that the resources spent on this activity are included in the general figures in the budgets for military personnel and activities and therefore not specifically stated.

		Claasen opens his book by quoting Hitler's boast in 1942 that his successful invasion of Norway in 1940 would prove to be one of the two decisive events in the war, and noting the Fuehrer's harsh words for the failure of Germany's WWI leaders to take such decisive action during the 1914-1918 war.
		That the Luftwaffe would have an important role in any Norwegian campaign, however, was recognized early on in the planning process by the less partisan OKW.
		The author's recapitulation of the ultimately unsuccessful campaign against the Arctic convoys and the Luftwaffe's inability to patrol and defend Norway's lengthy coastline against Allied bombing raids make it clear that the grand strategic vision for Hitler's northern theater was never realized.

		The most recognized Polish participant in the Norwegian Campaign of 1940 is the Independent Highland Rifle Brigade (Samodzielna Brygada Strzelców Podhalańskich, Brigade des Chasseurs de Montagne), established in France on 9 February 1940, with Zygmunt Bohusz-Szyszko (then colonel) in command.
		The officers were those of the Polish Army officers corps, who decided to leave Poland in and after the last stages of the Polish Campaign of 1939 in order to continue fighting abroad.

	99th Batallion (Separate)-US Army
		It is desired that you take the necessary steps to organize at the earliest practicable date a battalion of Norwegian nationals to serve as part of the US Army.
		All men who were transferred, or volunteered, to the 99th battalion, had to know how to speak norwegian, and many originated from the ”norwegian” areas in Minnesota.
		The 99th Battalion was to consist of a mixture of infantry,- parachute,- and mountaineer specialists, and their insignia was a shield with a Viking ship, in the Norwegian national colors red, white and blue.
