Norwich, known as "The Rose of New England," is a city in New London County, Connecticut, United States.
Norwich was founded in 1659 when settlers from Old Saybrook, Connecticut purchased land from Chief Uncas founder of the Native American Tribe Mohegan.
Norwich is the birthplace of early American industrialist and politician Erastus Corning, early American Baptist leader Isaac Backus, and of Benedict Arnold, for whom there is a commemorative plaque on the lot where his house used to stand.
