This is a list of the 646 constituencies currently represented in parliament as at the 2005 general election.
Constituencies were long based on boroughs and traditional counties, but are now unique divisions of administrative counties, consisting of several wards.
Most of the current constituency boundaries were last reviewed in the early 1990s, and are therefore based on administrative boundaries prior to the last series of local government boundary changes.

The constituency is dominated by Luton airport and the Vauxhall car plant, and it came as a major blow to the area when Vauxhall announced that they plan to close their plant by mid 2002 with the loss of 2,000 jobs.
Pronounced Blakely, the seat lies in the north of Manchester and borders the suburbs of Prestwich to the west and Chadderton and Failsworth to the east.
Norwich was once the second city of England, and until the seventeenth century was the leading manufacturing town, based on the wool industry.

There is also a common law rule that ‘idiots’ are disqualified for election to Parliament and that ‘lunatics’ are disqualified in their non-lucid intervals, but this has not been tested in recent times in the courts.
A person may only stand as a candidate for a party if the nomination paper is submitted with a certificate authorising their candidature issued by, or on behalf of, the nominating officer of a registered political party.

Norwich North has many seriously deprived areas, with many struggling lone parents and unemployed young people.
My work in Parliament and in Norwich has primarily consisted of advocacy work and pushing the government to take more notice of the role that science plays (and can play) in our nation.
