Millions of pesos in property were destroyed when a band of 30 communist rebels blasted a cement factory in Norzagaray, Bulacan, the Bulacan provincial police said yesterday.
Bulacan provincial police director Senior Supt. Michael Benedict Fokno said the rebels disarmed security guards and planted dynamite at the compound of Monark Cement Co. in Barangay Minuyan in Norzagaray around 8 p.m.
Fokno said the authorities believe that the New People’s Army in eastern Bulacan may have been responsible for the attack and was purposely timed to be done on the day President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo delivered her State of the Nation Address.
