	Noseband - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		A noseband is the part of a horse's bridle that encircles the nose.
		Its primary function is to remind the horse to keep its mouth closed, to prevent a horse from evading the bit by opening the mouth, and as an attachment for equipment, such as a standing martingale.
		This noseband is usually seen at the lower levels of dressage, or in the dressage phase of eventing.

		It's hard to explain but raised is actually nothing to do with how high the noseband comes up, it is the term that means the leather on the noseband is raised.

		First off, I would NOT use a noseband in this situation...I realize that every tool has its place, but this sounds like a basic training issue which can be fixed for good with some time, rather than tying his mouth shut.
