Amazon.com: Nothing: Music: Meshuggah   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
Where past albums have seen the group smirking through the good-natured wittiness of their baffling instrumental changeups, Nothing is a grueling, spiral slam, spring-loaded with eight-string guitars and plenty of surprises.
Nothing's songs, particularely in the middle, have more of a tendancy to run together than the other albums.
The worst moments on Nothing are probably a result of the band getting used to their new 8-string guitars, and they seem to have a better handle of it on subsequent releases.

Nothing (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nothing is the fourth album by Swedish tech metal band Meshuggah.
The songs on this album consist of slower tempos and have a heavy focus on groove instead of the thrash influences on previous albums, though it carries the jazz fusion interludes that were present on some songs on the band's Destroy Erase Improve album.
A re-recorded and re-mastered version of the album was released on October 31, 2006.

Nothing Is Sound :: The Cracked Pot   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
Overall, Nothing Is Sound is slightly more reminiscent of Switchfoot’s first three albums: The Legend of Chin (1997), New Way to Be Human (1999) and Learning to Breathe (2000), but that’s not to say, however, that Switchfoot hasn’t improved since their debut--quite the contrary, in fact.
The album begins with “Lonely Nation,” a solid, driven first track which touches on the loneliness of this generation, despite its being connected electronically.
With strong lyrics and a smooth melody with a touch of desperation and yearning, this is the centerpiece of Nothing Is Sound.

 Nothing's Shocking - Jane's Addiction - Song Listings
Although Jane's Addiction's 1987 self-titled debut was an intriguing release (few alternative bands at the time had the courage to mix modern rock, prog rock, and heavy metal together), it paled in comparison to their now classic major-label release one year later, Nothing's Shocking.
Produced by Dave Jerden and Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell, the album was more focused and packed more of a sonic wallop than its predecessor; the fiery performances often create an amazing sense that it could all fall apart at any second, creating a fantastic musical tension.
Nothing's Shocking is a must-have for lovers of cutting-edge, influential, and timeless hard rock.

Out of Nothing (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Their debut album, The Good Will Out, was a much-celebrated success, and great things were expected.
However, the "difficult second album" Drawn from Memory, was seen by many as over-produced (the band famously claimed to have spent "365 days" in the studio) and their final studio album for old label Hut Records, If You've Never Been was not well received.
The album's first track, "Ashes", was recently used in an episode of The CW television show Veronica Mars.

Now their new cd Everything Nothing has been released by AKH records, and it has harvested great reviews, proclaiming them _the_ newcomer of the year.
Steven managed to produce an album full of excellent soundscapes without any triviality - but what Stella did with her voice is almost unbelievable.
Dutch Penthouse magazine (march 2005): 'Although the songs on Everything Nothing strongly differ from one another - from the wildly danceable Fracture to the tranquil Vertigo - the whole album clearly breathes an atmosphere that's sexy, sultry, jazzy, and sometimes so dark that you fancy yourself in a Dracula movie.

Starting off the album is “Take My Hands”, an upbeat genre-bending song which begins the thinking process for the album.

DECAPOLIS : Switchfoot - Nothing Is Sound
For instance, the music buyer would get pre-releases of albums and my mom would nab some of them for me. Or, on a really good day I might be allowed to enter the buyer’s office and select some things on my own from a certain shelf.
One of the little treasures I came away with one day was a pre-release cassette of Switchfoot’s first album, “The Legend of Chin.” It was the majority of the album, sans two songs, and the whole album had yet to release to the rest of the world.
It was a fairly liberating album for me, but it wasn’t too long after that I got a cd player and my cassettes fell by the wayside.

Out of Nothing is one of the best songs ive heard, it starts off slow and chilled and then theres one word which sums the rest up and thats epic.
a great end to the album, and in conclusion a pretty damn fine album, just a pity they couldn't have varied their sound slightly, possibly removing 'looking as you are' and 'keeping' for something a little more experimental.

Embrace - Out Of Nothing : album review
Despite their debut album, The Good Will Out, being crammed with uplifting, anthemic songs, it was widely perceived as something of a disappointment.
Subsequent albums were a bit short on memorable tunes and the appearance of a 'best of' in 2002 seemed to signal the end of the Huddersfield band's career.
Out Of Nothing is the record they've been threatening to make for years - they'll be no more talk of unfulfilled potential now, as this is undoubtedly one of the albums of the year.

KLUDGE MAGAZINE - Review - The Nothing: Complex Sanity of Man
The Nothing is best known (I use the term "known," loosely) for producing two of the best tracks off of Living Legends' member Luckyiam.PSC's most recent LP, Extra Credit 2.
Since I didn't recognize any of the track titles on the back of The Nothing's album, I was delightfully surprised, while giving the album its first full spin, to find those very beats on Complex Sanity of Man; along with another beat which which The Nothing laced PSC for PSC's tour-only album, The Collectors Item.
Enough with the small talk; the album starts off with the beautifully mellow "Bossano," which acts as a typical intro at under two minutes and does a perfect job setting the tone for the rest of the record.

As If To Nothing by Craig Armstrong @ Cinemusic   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-13)
This album serves as a semi-sequel to Armstrong's prior solo effort, The Space Between Us, which was a quasi-compilation of select film cues and original pieces.
In a way, this is a refreshing approach, and stays inline with the album's serious mood - and this is indeed a serious album.
Armstrong has constructed this album as a symphony, so there are similiar elements which tie the pieces together.

And so too his new solo project, As If To Nothing, which holds fifteen inventive new compositions that are as diverse as anything you'll find on a CD right now.
The strongest parts of As If To Nothing come when Armstrong emerges as a confident creator of pop music, and nowhere is this more in evidence than in the opening "Ruthless Gravity" and later in "Inhaler," with both tracks capturing the better moods of Depeche Mode.
But be under no impression that this is a dance album, because there are also Indian influences on "Miracle" and "Amber," while ethereal sounds emanate from "Hymn 2."

Staind’s flat new album offers nothing but heartache | The Rice Thresher
Mike Mushak’s guitar has been original enough to keep fans interested in each new album, and while lead singer Aaron Lewis’ voice does not stand out among rock greats like Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger or Audioslave’s Chris Cornell, it is versatile enough to produce successful softer ballads as well as Staind’s better-known hardcore sounds.
Unfortunately, the attempt fails and produces music that is nothing more than a watered-down version of earlier themes.
The repetition of the same themes, both lyrical and rhythmic, overpowers the album.

Having released a critically and commercially successful debut album with 'The Good Will Out' they nearly blew it all with the release of the overly fussy 'Drawn From Memory' and the less than inspiring 'If You've Never Been'.
Next up 'Someday' comes across like the younger brothers of Spiritualized complete with a finale featuring a full on gospel choir, 'Wish 'Em All Away' is harmonica soaked loveliness with a chorus that touches the heavens and 'Spell It Out' is a string-laden monster that has 'festival closer' written all over it.
