The largest church I think is now Basilique de Notre Dame de la Paix de Yamoussoukro (you'll have to check my French!) or in English, the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace of Yamoussoukro, in the Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) with a floor area of about 30 000 m^2.
I think it was consecrated by the late Pope John Paul II ten or more years ago and was quite controversial project - a lavish basilica in a poor country (Yamoussoukro is nothing more than a glorified village) where the cost of the project almost doubled (?) the national debt.
I think it ranks No 3 largest church (after Basilique de Notre Dame de la Paix de Yamoussoukro and St. Peter's) and probably No 1 largest cathedral (it is the church of a bishop).
