The Playhouse has earned a reputation for making bold and thrilling theatre. New work, classics and rediscovered masterpieces, originally for the local community, have been brought to national and international audiences through touring.  The modern, Grade II listed, building has a proscenium theatre, with an auditorium that can seat over 700.
