 DFG News: California's Rockfish Fisheries To Close Nov. 21   (Site not responding. Last check: )
Following federal action taken by the federal Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) and conforming action taken by the state, effective Friday, Nov. 21, California's recreational and most commercial fisheries for nearshore rockfishes, shelf rockfishes, California scorpionfish (sculpin), and lingcod will close in all ocean waters, announced the California Department of Fish and Game (DFG).
The statewide closures were adopted Nov. 5 by the PFMC and subsequently by the DFG after review of projected fishery landings through October.
This action would also be effective on Nov. 21, or as soon as administratively possible, and will last through the end of the year.

Experimental physics, careers in physics, and the physics of sports are among the topics that local high school students will explore during Physics Day at The University of Memphis.
The two-day event will host more than 160 students from White Station High School on Thursday, Nov. 21, and on Dec. 5 the event will be replicated for students from other area schools.

On November 21, 1942, U.S. Army engineers, working closely with their Canadian counterparts, completed an emergency war measure with the opening of the Alcan Highway, an overland military supply route to the Territory of Alaska.
Passing through the Yukon, the more than 1,500-mile roadway connected Dawson Creek, British Columbia with Fairbanks, Alaska and provided Americans and Canadians with an increased sense of security at a time of hostile Japanese activities during World War II.
