Nova rocket - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nova was a series of proposed rocket designs, originally as NASA's first large launchers for missions similar to the Saturn V that entered production, and later as larger follow-ons to the Saturn V intended for missions to Mars.
Nova was still targeting the direct ascent approach, which required the most lift capacity.
The main determinant in selecting the Saturn over the Nova was that the Saturn C-5 could be built in an existing factory outside New Orleans, later known as the Michoud Assembly Facility, while the larger diameter Nova would need new factories to be built.

Nova is 'the next big step' of Starchaser Industries development programme to be the first non-governmental, privately funded company to put three people into space and win the coveted 'Xprize' of US $10 million.
The 11 metre (37 ft) tall Nova rocket is the third prototype created by visionary British spacecraft manufacturers Starchaser Industries Ltd. Weighing in at 747kg (1643 lb) and capable of 0 - 500 miles/hour in under 6 seconds, Nova is set to be a key contender in the world's ultimate space challenge.

 Manic Nova
The Chevy 2 Nova was the name for the upper end model of Chevy 2 that included the V8 and the sport trim.
To this day these Novas retain extreme popularity, and seeing as they were only made for these 2 years, they fetch quite a price if they are in good condition.
The only thing that allowed the nova to stay as a muscle car was the tremendous power to weight ratio provided by the 350, or the 396, with both putting out enough horsepower to melt the tires at a kick of the throttle.

Nova only takes one pilot, and will be the ultimate test before Bennett launches a full three-seater in a bid to claim the X Prize.

The real issue about the NOVA Rocket is the question is could you build it, and if you did have a problem with it, it could really destroy a good part of the Cape Kennedy at the time, because it was such a massive amount of propellant.
Thirty years later, NOVA joins Borman, Lovell, and Anders at a reunion in Chicago - a chance to look back on the perilous journey that was Apollo 8, and to recall the mysterious way it began.

 Enchanted Rendezvous
The immediate advantage of Earth-orbit rendezvous, as von Braun clearly pointed out, was that it required a pair of less powerful rockets that were already nearing the end of their development—in other words, twice as many of his early Saturns.
A massive rocket, roughly the size of a battleship, would be fired directly to the Moon, land, and then blast off for home directly from the lunar surface.
Any single big rocket, such as Nova, that had to carry and lift all the fuel necessary for leaving the Earth's gravity, braking against the Moon's gravity as well as leaving it, and braking back down into the Earth's gravity again was not the most practical, especially if the mission must be accomplished soon.

An aerospike engine is basicly based on an inside-out rocket nozzle; instead of expanding within a rocket nozzle, the rocket flame expands around a compression area called the "aerospike." The X-33's engines are "linear aerospikes" because they are more like flat surfaces than like a circular "spike."
Aerospike technology has been on the fringes of rocket development throughout the space program and, for the time being, it seems likely to stay there.
The bottom of the craft is a specially curved reflector which focuses the laser light into a central point causing a superheating of the air at that point and an explosive thrust similar to the thrust generated by a rocket engine.
