	LA NOVELA: CARACTERISTICAS, TEMATICA - Monografias.com
		Las primeras muestras conocidas de novela se producen en Grecia y Roma entre los siglos II a de C y III d de C. se han clasificado en cuatro tipos básicos: novelas de viaje fabuloso, novelas amorosas, novelas satíricas y novelas bizantinas o de reencuentro.
		El esquema en estas novelas griegas es similar en muchas de ellas: encuentro de una pareja de jóvenes (enamoramiento, boda, fuga), separación (en un viaje arriesgado a causa de naufragios y piratas), reencuentro de los enamorados (que han sido fieles a pesar de las dificultades) y final feliz.
		La iniciación plena de estas novelas corresponde al romanticismo, pero fueron los novelistas ingleses del siglo XVIII quienes imprimieron este carácter a la novela aun cuando exageran presentando asuntos excesivamente tiernos y lacrimosos: Samuel Richardson en sus obras Pamela y Clarisa presenta un tema que gira entorno a las desgracias amorosas de dos señoritas.
