The story tells of one of several fascinating adventures of Calis, Tomas' son, to the distant continent of Novindus, where the sinister Pantathians dwell, through the eyes of Erik, a young flsmith from Darkmoor.
I was swept along by the fast paced action of the plot, drawn in by the likable characters and their growing relationships as they battled through a seemingly impossible task until only the strongest were left alive.
For, on the distant continent of Novindus, the Pantathian Serpent Priests are once again plotting the destruction of not just the Kingdom, but the world.

My idea for the next map, since it is so much longer vertically than the current map, is to widen the map out to include Novindus very far away from Triagia in the middle of a vast ocean.
Novindus has to be realligned I messed its placing up bad, but this is what it looks like so far!
The map has been tweaked and is more correct, Novindus is included, it is a 180wide by 80high map so the screenshot is quite decieving.

The remnants of the army from Novindus occupy part of the Western Kingdom and dig in there, while Erik and the Kingdom commanders make plans to rebuild the destroyed city of Krondor and either destroy or conquer the invaders.
Meanwhile, Pug and his fellow wizards Miranda and Nakor seek to understand and counter a force of dark magic that is still aiding the enemy army, even after the deaths of both the Emerald Queen and the demon who took her place.

The Books of Raymond E. Feist
The action and adventure on Novindus is well written and the author uses his usual trick of having mundane things ground the fantasy in reality (in this case it's caring for horses).
Half of the story is another of the author's wonderfully written war sequences in which familiar characters become heroes as they are forced to battle overwhelming odds for the sake of the Kingdom.
By the end of this book you'll realise that the three books of this series are intended to set the scene for Feist's next series (supposedly the last of the Midkemia/Kelewan series'), the Darkwar Saga.

I started reading this book when it first came out, but put it down when I finally grew too disgusted with the main character (Roo) to care about how it turned out (except to hope for his well-deserved death, frankly).
The sequel to "Shadow of a Dark Queen" continues the exploits of Erik Von Darkmoor and Rupert "Roo" Avery after their battles in Novindus.
After being used to the quality of Feist's writing, I found this novel to be not quite matching the fast-paced yet detailed novels previously written, particularly when compared to 'The Kings Buccaneer' and 'Shadow Of A Dark Queen'.
