Novo Brdo (Serbian: Novo Brdo or Ново Брдо ; Albanian: Novobërda or Novobërdë) is a town and municipality in eastern Kosovo, a Serbian province under UN administration.
Novo Brdo (in Latin documents written as Novaberd, Novus Mons or Novamonte; and in the Sasi's own documents as Nyeuberghe) was mentioned in the historical documents as early as 1326.
Novo Brdo was a metropolis at the time, with a huge Serbian medievial fortress built on the top of an extinct volcano cone (the remains of which can be visited today), and residential sections sprawling all around.

NOVO BRDO, Nov. 13 (Beta) - Hashim Thachi's Democratic Party of Kosovo (DPK) refuses to recognize the results of the local election in Novo Brdo.
Its members are using threats to prevent both Serbs and Albanians from establishing municipal institutions, BETA was told by sources close to international missions in the province on Nov. 13.
DPK members, including the incumbent president of the municipality, believe that the number of displaced Serbs from Novo Brdo who voted is not realistic and that the local elections were rigged.

This American Colonel stated this even though he is aware that 200 interlopers from neighbouring Albania have settled in Novo Brdo, usurping Serb miners' homes.
