The phrase Novus Ordo Seclorum (Latin for "New Order of the Ages") appears on the reverse of the Great Seal of the United States, first designed in 1782 and printed on the back of the American dollar bill since 1935.
Novus Ordo Seclorum is also the name of a high quality encryption program in Cryptonomicon, a novel by Neal Stephenson.
NOTE: "Novus ordo seclorum" does not properly translate into "new world order," which is an English phrase whose Latin translation would not be "novus ordo seclorum." Seclorum is a plural form (new worlds order?), and Thomson specifically said the motto refers to "the new American era" which began in 1776.

Novus Ordo Missæ (New Order of the Mass) is the term many use to refer to the Roman-rite liturgy of the Mass as revised by the Roman Catholic Church since the Second Vatican Council.
In response to desires expressed at the First Vatican Council (1869-1870), Pope Pius X (1903-1914) introduced a new arrangement of the Psalter for use in the Breviary, and forbade the use of the former arrangement from 1 January 1913 on.
The pre-Vatican-II Ordo Missae gave the same indications as the 1975 GIRM, except that it ignored the Communion of the people, mention of which was found in the Missal only in its Ritus servandus in celebratione Missae, X, 6, with an outline of the rite, not the full text.

Novus ordo Missae - By Dr. James Lothian - Homiletic & Pastoral Review - October 2000
The notion that the Catholic fall off was simply one part of a larger societal trend, therefore, receives absolutely no support in these data.
At the time the New Rite of the Mass, the Novus Ordo Missae, was introduced, expectations ran high.
The liturgy, it was said, was being renewed, stripped of later nonessential accretions and returned to its earlier and simpler form.
