But climbing out of that river valley to get the third load late at night was not much fun.
The rest of the river had beautiful pools with much larger fish than the lakes above and many challenging rapids - mostly dropping about 30 ft per mile, and all the rapids were runable.
But when my family and I took a trek to the Yukon River, the friends we were set to paddle with suggested using a folding canoe they'd had good luck with.
