		Nowshera, June 29: An angry mob ransacked a temple to avenge an alleged desecration of Holy Quran by a Christian man.
		According to the police, the incident took place on June 29, when children playing in Lal Kurti in the Nowshera Cantonment area spotted two pieces of paper later identified as pages from a book taught to students before they start the Holy Quran.
		Deputy Superintendent of Police and SHO, Nowshera Cantonment, were suspended and an inquiry was ordered against them for negligence of duty.

	Floods claim two lives in Nowshera -DAWN - Top Stories; July 2, 2005
		PESHAWAR, July 1: With the River Kabul continuing to rise to dangerous levels on Friday, flood waters inundated the suburbs of Nowshera city and engulfed 200 houses of a village in the neighbouring Mardan district.
		According to the NWFP Flood Warning Centre, the water discharge in River Kabul at Nowshera was recorded at 169,600 cusecs at 7pm and the level of all the tributaries was also increasing.
		Nowshera is one of the worst-affected areas where the flash floods have affected 11 villages, damaging 2,877 houses and inundating 52,100 acres of land.

		NOWSHERA: An angry mob ransacked a temple to avenge an alleged desecration of Holy Quran by a man here, police and witnesses said.
		The 55-year-old Yusuf Masih was immediately taken into ‘safe custody’, the DPO said, recalling a tragic incident in Nowshera in April when a man was shot dead by a mob for allegedly desecrating Holy Quran.
		Mr Khan said that a mob of about 300 people had gathered outside the police station where Masih had been kept, demanding that he be handed over to them.

		With the help of the World Food Programme, the IRC has also started distributing flour, cooking oil and pulses to 4,600 local families in Peshawar and Nowshera as well as 500 Afghan families who are living in refugee camps nearby.
