Bryan Delivers Major Nuclear Waste Policy Speech — Begins Full Scale Assault on Nuclear Waste Legislation
The Nuclear Waste Policy Act specifically charges the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with setting the permissible radiation standard and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is charged with implementing the EPA standard, and finally the Department of Energy (DOE) is charged with characterizing and building a repository.
Since the nuclear power industry was also unhappy with the recommendations of their self-appointed team of experts, they renewed their efforts to find other ways to lower the health and safety standard for a nuclear waste repository in the State of Nevada.
The Senate's current nuclear waste bill is an environmental travesty which stands no chance of being enacted, and it is my hope that the Senate Majority leader realizes this and that we should no longer waste the Senate's time on this irresponsible and special interest legislation," Senator Bryan concluded.

Splendid Magazine reviews Nuclear Assault: Third World Genocide
The hardcore-influenced and highly political Nuclear Assault (with original members Lilker, Connelly and Evans in tow) has set out to reclaim past glories and demonstrate that thrash metal hasn't been completely obliterated by nu-metal, metalcore or whatever other metal-fashion of the day.
Nuclear Assault's calling cards are all still here: hyper-quick drumming, skin-searing solos, hostile riffs and Connelly's air-raid-siren screeching vocals.
The '80s are over and Nuclear Assault may not be at the top of their game, but there are still a few contentious tunes here worth checking out.

Nuclear Assault were among thrash metal's most socially aware groups, making room for serious subject matter (and occasional goofs) in their careening speed metal riffing.
One of the Big Apple's few challengers (along with Anthrax and Overkill) to the Bay Area dominance of all things thrash metal, Nuclear Assault became immediate contenders due to the cumulative sum of its parts -- not to mention, their extreme nature and their ability to back it up with solid musicianship.
Nuclear Assault's accelerated demise proved inevitable soon thereafter.

Who knows if that is a good thing, for these tunes don’t have the overall consistency and flair that the Game Over and Handle With Care albums did, but surely stick out in a metal world full of processed, overly produced albums.
Nuclear Assault was never one of the darlings of 80’s thrash, so it’s hard to imagine many getting pumped up over this release.
No one wants to see thrash succeed as much as yours truly, but when the intellectual and creative bar is lowered like this, one cannot help but hope Coroner will consider a reunion to save us from more bad reunion albums.

By the time they recorded their first album, Game Over, the members of Nuclear Assault were already seasoned veterans of the N.Y.C. thrash metal community -- and it showed.
Their songwriting and overall vision might still have been lacking a few components, but at least their performance and execution revealed a remarkably tight unit.
A couple of generic, satanic thrash metal lyrics ("Sin," "Stranded in Hell") notwithstanding, the band's paranoid fixation on nuclear warfare ("Radiation Sickness," "After the Holocaust") and interest in politics and social issues ("My America") are evident from the get-go.

 Nuclear Assault - Speed Metal
Review: Perhaps the most nihilistic and raw of the otherwise still caught-in-convention blues-based speed metal bands, Nuclear Assault integrated elements of thrash and progressive tendencies into otherwise disturbingly rapid and basic metal that changes with the tendon-muscle coordination of human motion.
Willing to alter song structure as well as use nihilistic one-chord rhythm work alongside far more complex material, Nuclear Assault refined the riff formation of speed metal bands such as Metallica and Anthrax into a sense of mechanism-building that emphasized factors more present in classical composition such as relative motion, implied harmony and recursive structure.
They did not fully leave behind heavy metal rock/blues-based music, but generated a sense of greater atmosphere through complex motion culminating in stark resolving motion, with the grandeur and epic style of original metal artists Black Sabbath.
