In total the Nuffield list had 100 approved implements and even assisted manufacturers in their research and testing of new ones, introduced for the new range of tractor in 1950 (to fill the gap in the engine range).
The Nuffield tractor fitted with roadless half tracks could not be used with a hydraulic linkage, it came with a draw bar and P.T.O. (due to the idler wheel extending out further than an ordinary pneumatic wheel) the overall length of the roadless conversion was 12'.7.5" and 6'.11" wide.
The old Nuffield tractor was still recognizable even in the new Leylands and in fact the Marshall tractors owe a lot to the original Nuffield tractor of 40 years ago.

Nuffield College is a relatively new (completed in 1962) social sciences college for postgraduates.
Although the library has some special collections and archives (typically unpublished papers relating to individuals connected to Nuffield) its primary aim is to meet the needs of Nuffield students and academics in the subject areas listed above, consequently there is a heavy focus on periodicals and purchasing current social science texts.
In addition to Nuffield, I’ve had the opportunity to look around several libraries and also to obtain temporary part-time work in two other libraries, including the Bodleian.

In 1952 the Nuffield Organisation and the Austin Motor Company merged to form the British Motor Corporation, however this was seen more as a takeover by Austin.
Lord Nuffield was retained in an honourary position as president of BMC until his death in 1963, but it was Leonard Lord, Austin's chairman and managing director who was in total charge of the corporation from the outset.
Because Nuffield and Austin dealers had had such close ties in the past and due to there being so many of them, it would have been very costly to compensate those dealers who would have lost their franchises, which would have been a necessary step if all BMC products only carried the Austin badge.

When in 1948 the Morris Motors Agricultural Division launched their tractor range the name Nuffield was chosen to be the brand name for the companies agricultural products.
In the 1960's the BMC organisation was amalgamated with the Standard Triumph and Leyland groups to become British Leyland.
Tractor production continued under the Nuffield name until 1969 when the tractors were renamed as Leyland Tractors and the familiar poppy red livery was changed to a new two-tone Leyland corporate colour scheme.
