Less than 2 weeks before his death he attended his last meeting of DAWN (Denver Area World Numismatists.) According to his son Gear it was very difficult for him to attend and took alot out of him, but he dearly wanted to go.
A young couple came to the meeting with the intent of asking George to identify and explain some common Chinese cash coins that he been left to them by a relative.
He certainly seemed alert and was thrilled with the stamps that I brought him which included a large catalog envelope from Britain with two souvenir sheets on them.

 Suggestion by 12-Year Old Numismatist Leads to Policy Change at PCGS
A chance meeting at the ANA Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, between Marc Crane of Marc One Numismatics and pre-teenage numismatist Ryan Mastrangelo of West Chester, PA, has led to a policy change by the world’s largest rare coin certification service.
At 12-year old Mastrangelo’s suggestion, blank planchet errors for the 2000 Sacagawea dollars will no longer be certified as “No Date,” but will instead be placed in holders with the year 2000 in parenthesis.
This background somehow led him to become a professional numismatist in 1968.
