The Nymphenburg Palace (German: Schloss Nymphenburg) is a Baroque palace in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.
The palace was commissioned by the electoral couple Ferdinand Maria and Henriette Adelaide of Savoy to Agostino Barelli in 1664 after the birth of their son Maximilian II Emanuel.
With the treaty of Nymphenburg concluded in July 1741, Charles Albert allied with France and Spain against Austria.

The Nymphenburg borough was at the end of several streetcar and bus lanes running directly from the main Munich train station.
We were surprised that even though Nymphenburg was famed as the birthplace of King Ludwig II, that fact was not made so apparent in the palace museum.
The main wing of the palace housed the royal apartments, which was the main attraction.

Walk up the gray stone steps that lead to the palace and the first room you enter is the Great Hall, all white and gold, with a glowing ceiling fresco (1756) depicting the godess Flora, a mythological water-nymph, after whom the palace is named.
Of the four “Schlösschen” (little palaces) in the grounds the Pagodenburg was the first to be built, in 1716, by Joseph Effner.

The building of Nymphenburg Castle began in the reign of the Elector Ferdinand Maria: overjoyed by the birth of his son and heir, Max Emanuel, he had the central section built for his wife in the style of an Italian villa (Agostino Barelli, 1664-74).
The pieces on show comprise a comprehensive history of the products of the Nymphenburg porcelain manufactory (founded in 1761), which is based in the north-east section of the round tower in front of the castle.
