	Ferdinand Freiligrath - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		After some time in London Freiligrath came back to Germany and worked for the "Neue Rheinische Zeitung" (general editor: Karl Marx, editor of cultural pages: Georg Weerth).
		In 1847, Franz Liszt set Freiligrath's poem "O lieb, so lang du lieben kannst" to music--the song was later arranged by Liszt for solo piano as his "Liebestraume No. 3," which subsequently became one of his most famous piano pieces.
		In 1851 he had to leave Germany again and he became the director of the London branch of the Schweizer Generalbank.

		For my money, the best Liszt players are often outstanding not so much at Chopin as at Beethoven, and if you look at the above list of other outstanding performers of the Sonata, you'll see that's generally true.
		I felt I was listening to ranks of carillon bells, pealing from a high tower with giant bass bells and tiny golden ones, all distinct yet harmonious.

		I also found a recording of the early songs and tracked them down in another recent edition.
		"I grew up in California," says Mahy, "so I learned Spanish as my first foreign language, which gave me an interest in Spanish music." She says she has performed much of Turina's music since college, but "this one is my favorite."
		Mahy says she performs a recital each year because "It provides an opportunity to perform music I love, but I try to present new material for each recital so that I grow as an artist.

		The warm and consistently sympathetic playing that graces this disc seems in striking contrast to the liner photographs portraying the two artists in ensemble in some kind of factory setting - the heavy machinery reminding me of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, with the musicians apparently seeking to soften the dehumanizing effects of technology.
