		OMF has added a new meaning to the word "mob." In the vernacular, a mob is a "Media OBject." A mob is a way of grouping things, such as clips, transitions and even complete projects together.
		OMF allows these projects to be worked on at lowered resolutions, (in the offline editing concept), and later rerendered at full broadcast resolution when the creative decision making is over.
		OMF is a clearly robust way to exchange media around a facility and between various pieces of equipment, regardless of their manufacturer.

		I’m trying to import my OMF files which I export form my AVID into the PT 6.4 and it gives me an error massage “couldn’t import while trying to determine the file’s audio sample rate”.
		While checking the files with QT I noticed this and asked the transfer-guy to create the omf with all files forced to one sample rate and bit depth (in my case 48k 16 bit).
		I tried it on a machine from a friend with Digitranslator 1 and although it remained un-openable by it I noticed an interesting name change: in all files the spaces in the names were replaced by an underline and every dot in the name except the last one was replaced by an underline.

		I have tried using the option where the.wav files are imbedded in the OMF file, but when imported into Pro Tools the.wav files all have a.OMF extension, and Pro Tools cannot seem to tell me if this will be a problem after the demo expires.
		It was suggested that I use the Sonar option of having the audio files seperate as opposed to imbedded.
		Funnily enough, using the OMF in Sonar I've had no problems at all.
