Yes, this does mean that the OPAC will have to be smart enough to grab up all the main records an author-search might pertain to and show them intelligibly, despite the possibility that they are far-flung alphabetically.
The searcher who clicks a “more by this author” link from that page doesn’t especially care to know that there are more David Salos who write books in the world; she doesn’t care that one of them is a swim coach who writes swimming books.
