Osteosarcoma (OSA) arises from ostoblasts and osteoclasts
OSA usually arises in the medullary cavity, penetrates the cortex, and extends into the subperiosteum, causing the formation of a large soft tissue mass contiguous to the bone.
OSA is poorly delimited radiographically because there is a wide zone of transition between abnormal and normal bone that lacks a sclerotic border at the margin of the lesion.
OSA may have a heterogeneous appearance histologically and have been classified as poorly differentiated, fibroblastic, osteoblastic, telangectatic, giant cell, or chondroblastic based upon the character of the neoplastic cell population and the type(s) of matrix produced.

OSA in Children - American Sleep Apnea Association - ASAA
OSA is estimated to occur in 1 percent to 3 percent of otherwise healthy preschool children.
OSA in children is usually due to large tonsils and adenoids.
Since OSA results from the upper airway components' relative size and structure rather than the tonsils' and adenoids' absolute size, both tonsils and adenoids should be removed.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a life threatening and life altering condition that occurs when a person repeatedly stops breathing during sleep because his or her airway collapses and prevents air from getting into the lungs.
Sleep is repeatedly disrupted by apneas, depriving OSA sufferers from the deepest, most restful stages of sleep.
The low oxygen levels associated with OSA, and the effort required to breathe during the night, put a strain on the cardiovascular system.

 OSA
By definition (and medicare requirements) OSA is present if a patient has a >30 apneas (defined as cessation of airflow for 10 seconds) during a 6-8 hour sleep or an apnea index (apneas/hour) of 5.
Unfortunately, the characteristics of any of these as diagnostic test for OSA is poor and the numbers we have are mostly biased by the spectrum of disease in the population studied.
Despite a very strong association, OSA also does not seem to cause pulmonary HTN or daytime hypercarbia as there has never been a study which is able to show worsening pulmonary HTN with worsening OSA.
