Oakville believes these decisions should be made by politicians who represent those citizens most affected by these decisions, that is, Oakville's town council.
Oakville believes that this change is a good one but that it should be amended to allow local municipalities as well as regional municipalities to have this power.
Therefore, the council recommends that the language of this clause be changed to "shall contain." This is the only way in which public involvement will be safeguarded and local experience in the development and application of social and economic indicators and measures related to land use planning decisions will be gained.

Oakville LACAC and the Oakville Town Council have been grappling with the issue of the Ballymena Estate for the past three years, and finally it seems that a positive outcome has been achieved.
Ballymena is the estate property just east of downtown Oakville that was first developed during the First World War by one of the sons of Timothy Eaton and purchased in the 1940s by the Hon.
During the early part of this century estate properties were numerous along Lakeshore Road and gave Oakville a character it retains to this day, but the forces of time and the demand for infill and redevelopment have meant that only a handful of these properties remain.
