Bands that have been here since the 80's and who (for the most part) are still sticking true to metal and what they set out to do from day one.
There are newer bands coming out, but many of them are from the death metal realm, and I don't listen to as much of that as I used to.
Unfortunately, some people living here don't know a lot about it, nor do they pursue it because bands that are being shoved down their throat who are the flavor of the month take precedence.

I had several demo tapes from various bands that my friends were in, Seahorse's Spiral Tide demo (the title was my idea), Six Floors' self titled tape they sold at gigs (Six Floors was actually most of Seahorse plus one other guy, and in fact covered some of Seahorse's tunes).
I would leave the tape deck on all night, and then the next day go back and transfer the songs I liked onto a second tape, and then record over the first tape again the next night, etc. Now I like most any kind of music, but Big Sonic Heaven was my shit back then.
I went to several of their parties to see local bands, I was really into the local music scene back then (since most of my friends were in bands, as mentioned above, and I was often called on for roadie-slash-mosh-instigation duties).

TSO had an awesome descent into insanity from Dana (who seemed to be the most awake band member at the beginning of the show) including some depravity with the whisk.
But despite these individual performances, the band was not very cohesive during the first five songs of the set and there was no banter with the audience after some initial rambling by Dana, pre-Adirondack.
Especially with a band like OSP who has been out touring their asses off all over the country for years and have yet to make it really, really big.

Part of the reason for the downtime was due to the illness of our rhythm guitarist, however, he's been feeling better and back to work for months.
All the material I've written for Oberon can come with me and I have a bunch of other originals that never were recorded with Oberon.

First off, our bassist (Rick) left the band and Pat had taken over the bass duties (he had been a bassist in local metal bands Sacrament A.D. and Devastator prior to doing the vocal spot with us).
In late 2002, bassist Steve left the band to be replaced by a friend of Noel's - Joe.
