Ocado is said to be looking to raise a further £50m to fund the expansion of its online food retailing business, and Goldman Sachs has been appointed financial adviser.
Ocado is planning to expand its Waitrose groceries distribution business in Southampton over the next few months, with the creation of 100 jobs.
Ocado, which is 40% owned by the John Lewis Partnership, is to launch an online grocery delivery service from a temporary depot in Hemel Hempstead later this year, while a new depot is built in nearby Hatfield.

Ocado, the online food retailer aiming to float on the stock market within three years, has drawn up plans to raise up to £20m in the next few months to fund its aggressive expansion.
Shareholders in Ocado, which is 43 per cent owned by the John Lewis Partnership, the department store retailer and owner of the Waitrose supermarket chain, passed a resolution allowing the board to issue up to 200,000 new shares at an extraordinary meeting late last month.
Analysts believe Ocado is likely to be valued at around £400m if it goes ahead with the flotation plan.
