Clackmannanshire is part of the Ochil Parliamentary Constituency and George Reid (Scottish National Party) represents Ochil in the Scottish Parliament.
Following a General Election on Thursday May 5th 2005, the new OCHIL and SOUTH PERTHSHIRE constituency consisting of the areas of Comrie, Crieff, Auchterarder, Bridge of Earn, Kinross, Milnathort and Clackmannanshire with around 72,000 voters is represented in the UK Parliament by Gordon Banks (Labour).
The stone is believed to have been an object of worship.

 Free Scotland Party
They contested 3 seats in the 2005 general election - Nugent stood in Orkney and Shetland, Maitland Kelly in Ochil and South Perthshire and Dallas Carter in Motherwell & Wishaw; all three failed to garner more than 1% of the vote.
The FSP had stated their intention to run candidates in the 2004 European Parliament election but in the end did not, citing the £5,000 deposit as being a factor.
This name change was precipitated by the fact that the UK Electoral Commission refused to allow them to register the name Scottish Party, resulting in a new name becoming necessary.

George Reid, Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament and MSP for the Ochil Constituency, sent a message of support, unable to attend due to prior commitments.
They were the local constituency MSP Sylvia Jackson and Green Party List MSP Mark Ruskell.
The former is regarded as a rural community but the latter is a settlement of Stirling.
