	Building Tube Toms by Roger Arrick
		These tube toms are modeled after TAMA Octobans which are a set of 8 tuned toms of varying lengths, 6" diameter, and usually made out of acrylic.
		Octabans are nice but they can be an expensive addition to a starving drummer's kit (Insert drummer joke here..).
		Roger, I had been exchanging emails with Eric about our experiences building Octabans and he suggested I email you a picture of mine.

		While the following is not true for all of the Octabans in my setup, if I tune some of them up(I tend to tune them very low to get the throaty character of the drum) enough to get any tonality out of them, then they become very ringy with alot of overtones.
		Also, if you were going to try and adjust the bearing edge of an Octaban, do you know what the considerations are considering the makeup of the Octabans?
		The thing you have to understand with Octobans is they have to be miked up and put through the PA and your monitors.

		and if you couldnt get a hold of some second hand octabans to convert/ cut-down, what could you use?
		So long as the edges are cut flat, you should just be able to round them off with some sandpaper - low grit first, then high for a smoother finish - if you're using mesh heads, you won't want any rough spots on the edges to snag on.
