Torah is built on Planetary Cycles, Kabbalah of Moses
Octaeteris is so typical and short enough in repeat, that our early ancestors may have been aware of it (maybe without detailed counting) perhaps thousands of years ago, so that finally the builders of the Torah were ready to use a double Octaeteris, i.e.
Today we have evidence, that the Octaeteris was known in numbers to the Greeks, Jews and Babylonians in the 1st Millennia BC and that the Jews did use the Octaeteris for their calendars for timekeeping until AD 360, when Hillel II.
Though, if one Octaeteris is set virtually equal to two Octaeteris cycles and vice versa the "one year" that Abraham and Sara may wait for Isaak is interpreted as half a moon cycle...

 Torah Cosmos - Wikinfo
Recent research (in AD 2003 and ongoing) of the hungarian/german mathematician Andreas G. abo has revealed, that the Torah has been built upon (or later aligned onto) a 16-year period of planetary cycles (twice an octaeteris).
A Torah has very closely around TWICE the ammount of verses as the octaeteris has days and there are several octaeteris-significances in the text, e.g.
the octaeteris affinity is mentioned exactly at the position of a jupiter synodic year.

 Hypotyposeis: Epiphany and Polycarp
Extrapolating this (inaccurate) cycle backwards from the mid 2nd century to 32 CE gives the result that full moon on Sunday after the vernal equinox would be Sunday April 6th.
In this context it is worth noting that an obvious alternative to Polycarp's schem would be to have the Baptism not on Wednesday April 6th 29 but on Sunday April 10th 29.
It is notable that according to Clement of Alexandria in book 1 of the Stromateis the followers of Basilides observed the baptism of Christ either on January 6th three months before April 6th or January 10th three months before the alternative of April 10th.

The Origin of the Olympics: Ancient Calendars and the Race Against Time
So they started a new calendar called the octaeteris, which was eight solar years or 99 lunar months.
Later, they measured the octaeteris as two four-year periods, one of 49 months and one of 50 months, and they called these 4-year periods "Olympiads." This 4-year period still survives today.
The eight years of octaeteris is not just a soli-lunar cycle; it also happens to be the time it takes for the cycles of Venus and the Sun to meet.

The true orbit of Venus around the sun is 225-days and should not be confused with Venus’ heliacal rising and observable behavior.
Sirius and Venus have meshed heliacal risings known to ancient astronomers.

The ancient Greek term, octaeteris means the period of 8-solar-years for Venus after which the next lunar phase occurs on the same day of the year.
An octaeteris consists of about 2,920-days that equal 8-solar-years having 365-days each.
Five Venusian visibility cycles or synodic periods synchronize with 13 revolutions around the sun.

 AMU CHMA NEWSLETTER #19 (12/27/97)
On this base, I proceed to study the acano as a lunar calendar, showing how the vertical numeration of its squares force the solstitial, equinoctial and eclipse moons to move across the board with very simple and stable patterns.
The proposed calculus establish the octaeteris and the 135-moon eclipse cycle as basic periods of the acano.
It is well known that the Canarians observed the summer solstice and had important festivals on the crescent moon that followed, so to complete the evidence I present two notices from ancient written sources supporting that they measured one and half eclipse year as 520 days.
