However, after stalking the pace early through pedestrian fractions of :25 1/5 and :50 4/5, the bay could not hold off the late cavalry charge through the stretch drive and crossed the finish line in sixth.
As the field made their way through the stretch, it appeared that any member of the field was capable of pulling off the victory, and when all was said and done only four lengths separated the entire group.
