In the five most mine-affected provinces (Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Krong Pailin, Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear), annual planning and prioritization of mine action is undertaken by Mine Action Planning Units (MAPUs), operating under guidelines set by a subdecree issued in November 2004.
Volunteers in 319 villages (a substantial increase from 99 villages in 2004) were supported and supervised by 18 district focal points as of June 2006; two CMAC training and monitoring officers per province support the district focal points.
A total of 56 outreach activities were conducted (22 from Battambang and 34 from Kampong Speu); 4,132 visits and assessments were made in which 2,251 prostheses were repaired and 907 patients referred to one of the centers.

Now a new group of amputees, mostly demobilized soldiers, have recently moved to Pursat, and CWARS is trying to raise funds to train them.
CWARS has also run short-term couses on agricultural methods for amputees and their families in Chong Kal district, Oddar Meancheay province.
A similar course was organized for families in Veal Veng district, Pursat province.

In addition, the 2002 poverty vulnerability analysis of Cambodia, undertaken by the World Food Program, reveals that estimates of the poverty rates at the commune level record a higher incidence of poverty (between 39.1–53.7% of the population) in Oddar Meanchey, Banteay Meanchey and Siem Reap.
Therefore, the financial and technical support for mine action activities need to be substantially and consistently maintained in this province to combat landmines and UXO, which are the sources of poverty.
Since 2001, we have been operating integrated mine action programs in Oddar Meancheay and Preah Vihear Provinces, and in 2006 will commence a five year program in Banteay Meanchey Province.

In 1993 almost all Cambodian refugees in Thailand were repatriated back into Cambodia to take part in the UN-brokered elections.
However, as these children were already orphaned in the refugee camp, they were abandoned again, just over the border in Cambodia in a very poor village called Ampil, in the province of Oddar Meancheay.
After the Khmer Rouge brutally killed a teenage boy from the group, they were moved to another temporary area in the city of Sisophon in the same province for a few months.

CWARS opened its first vocational centre in Pursat Province, has a second school in Kampong Thom Province, and is in the process of building a third vocational centre in Kratie Province, on the Mekong River, due to open in April 2003.
With financing from Terre des Homes Germany, CWARS is able to pay monthly salaries to 30 teachers and provide books and stationery to all the pupils.
In December 2001, at the request of MoSALVY another Basic Agriculture Project was opened in Chong Kal District, Odar Meancheay Province in N.W Cambodia.
