 Oddfellows Playhouse named CT "Community Champion"
Oddfellows Playhouse was chosen as a Community Champion because of its vision and dedication to youth and its mission to make a positive difference in children's lives by building self-confidence through the teaching of theater skills.
Oddfellows Playhouse's Managing Director Margaret Rich said the resources will be used to support the Neighborhood Troupes, will provide scholarships for low-income youngsters and will support a wide variety of underlying costs essential to running a successful program, like training for teachers, volunteers and directors.
Middletown, CT (April 7, 2003) - Citizens Bank of Connecticut and WTNH-News Channel 8 today named Oddfellows Playhouse in Middletown as the third "Community Champion." As part of the award, Oddfellows will receive a $25,000 grant, media coverage and extensive promotional and volunteer support for its outstanding work in the area of youth support programs.

 NEWS: GSC: Demerits not on ballot
Today, Oddfellows, on Washington St. near Main, is a thriving performing arts center for children ages six through twenty.
The playhouse was founded in 1975 by a small group of Wesleyan students who felt the need to give children access to the performing arts in the greater Middletown community.
According to Trowbridge, there are currently about 30 students working at Oddfellows as work-study students, and about an equalnumber as volunteers.
