OETA also produces "Stateline" documentaries about Oklahoma, OKC and Tulsa local public affairs shows, and even a state arts show, "Gallery." Stateline and Gallery both won regional Emmy awards, as did an OETA production of the dedication ceremony for the new State Capitol Dome in November 2002.
OETA is broadcasting in HDTV in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, with the other two stations joining the digital party this year.
OETA is afraid of multiple viewpoints, ignores complex social issues, and provides forums for deliberating whether polka dancing is wilder than the waltz.

 Shawnee News-Star: Entertainment OETA wins three national media awards 08/05/01
OETA's "Stateline" documentary department received the national Clarion Award for best local documentary during the Aug. 2 convention of the Association for Women in Communications, held in Baltimore.
The special recognition was for "bountiful growth of audience through program strategies admirably suited to a unique local market." Over the past two years, OETA's audience has increased in the weekly cumulative audience levels from 1.6 million to 1.8 million persons.
Susie Dowdy, OETA manager of communications, was honored during the PBS annual meeting with a PBS Communications 2000 Award of Excellence in Advertising and Promotion of a Special Event.

I talked to OETA this morning and all of the OETA DTV stations are now running at full power.
They pass through whatever PBS sends them whether it is one HD channel or 4 SD channels; OETA has no control over this and they cannot insert their own local programming yet.
I know some of you see guide data in your DirecTV guides for OETA stations but that is Tribune Media Services creating this one their own; it is not coming from OETA.

I just found out that the last show I worked on has won a regional Emmy (which is a big darn deal in local television).

I was the production manager at the OETA Tulsa office for the first three years of its existence.
I am sure that weekend desk guy got a kick in the butt for that decision, then again maybe still there is a photog awaiting a tape from KOCO at that turnpike gate.....
To my knowledge, the only time anyone might have hooked into the OETA microwave net was to carry the "state of the state" or gubernatorial debates or actual governor's swearing in ceremonies.

At some point, OETA had problems with their transmitter, and were knocked off the air for what seemed like an entire summer in the early 80's.
They made a deal with OETA to carry the Series until the problem was solved (I remember this, because I was watching the series, and every few minutes, a crawl would run saying to turn to OETA for the game).
For some reason I also thought the original OETA xmitr in Tulsa was donated by 6, too.
