| | NFHS Forum: Ball hits offensive team members |
 | | I argued that the ball should have been dead when it hit a member of the offensive team, and that the runner closest to H (R2) should have been called out. |
 | | If the offensive team member has reason to be outside the dugout (i.e., the on-deck batter, a base coach, etc.), then I agree, intent is needed, and absent intent, play on. |
 | | But an offensive team member that is ILLEGALLY outside the dugout does not need intent, the ball is dead. |
