  Official Journal of the European Union - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Official Journal of the European Union is the gazette of record for the European Union.
The Official Journal superceded the earlier Official Journal of the European Coal and Steel community which was published from 30 December 1952.
This was renamed Official Journal of the European Community with the establishment of the European Community before taking its current title with the creation of European Union.

 European Forum of Official Gazettes
The Forum shall comprise the official gazettes of the Member States of the European Union and the Official Journal of the European Union, which have specifically agreed to create this Forum.
At least one meeting of the Forum shall be held annually, at which each official gazette shall be represented by the person responsible or his or her delegate, without prejudice to the fact that other organisations with the status of observers, experts or speakers on specific subjects may be invited.
Given its institutional position, the Official Journal of the European Union will act as secretariat for the Forum and be responsible for archiving documents and the Forum's website; at the request of the Chair, it distributes invitations to meetings, proceedings, minutes and other documents.

The European Documentation Centre (EDC) in the BJL.
All adopted legislation (Directives and Regulations) is published in the daily Official Journal of the European Union: Legislation (OJL), of which 1973-1997 is available in print, shelved in the EDC at EC/1 OFF J L. From 1998 the OJL is available on annual CDs, kept in Short Loan, and also on the Eur-Lex website.

The EC Public Procurement Directives require contracting authorities such as UKAEA to provide details of procurements in a prescribed format, which are then published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).
In accordance with European legislation, the majority of supply and service procurements with an estimated value of €200,000 (currently £153,376), and works contracts with an estimated value of €5,000,000 (currently £3,834,411) must be advertised in the OJEU.
