		Den første visepastor til Ofoten var Peder Munch - en munk som hadde avsverget sin katolske tro og knust alle helgenbilder som fantes i Lødingen kirke for å få bli i embetet.
		På begynnelsen av 1600-tallet hadde svenskene fått medhold i sine krav og i 1605 ble det krevd i svensk skatt fra Ofoten og helt øst til Varanger.
		I den læstadianske tradisjon har kristenfolket i Tornedalen og Ofoten tatt hånd om sin egen livsvirkelighet og definerer sine verdier med bakgrunn i det tradisjonelle samfunnets verdier skapt gjennom en tusenårig tradisjon om fellesskap, samvirke og kommunikasjon på tvers av det moderne samfunnets nasjonale og kulturelle grenser.

	Læstadianismen: fremvekst og utbredelse
		I Norge fikk læstadianismen på slutten av 1800-tallet innpass i områdene fra Ofoten i sør til Varanger i nord.
		Ved hans død, overtok Petter Bakkejord (1852-1925) som hovedleder for læstadianerne i Ofoten.
		Forsamlingene i Ofoten og Lofoten er av Moderforsamlingen delegert et nasjonalt ansvar for arbeidet i "vest", dvs.

		In 1884 another English company took them up and completed a provisional railway from Maimberget to Lule~ at the head of the Gulf of Bothnia (127 m.

		But this company, after extracting some 150,000 tons of ore in 1888 1889, went it~to liquidation in the latter year.

	The Ravn Family of Trondenes, Northern Norway
		She was the daughter of the minister from Ofoten, Hans Fredrik Allan, born 11 July 1762, died 29 January 1847, and his wife Ulrikke Antonette Jalles, born in Molde 6 November 1766, died 2 October 1833, buried at Evenes.
		Allan was 6 January 1792 minister to Andenes, and 19 June 1801 minister to Ofoten, from where he was honourably discharged on 2 March 1844 with a pension of 250 Riksdalers.
		Karen Margrethe Agersborg's mother was a known character in Ofoten, Anne Bendikte Hveding, who is considered an ancestor to several families in Ofoten.
