Nearby is Ogof Gelynnen that was dug to its present exstent but left to preserve Ogof Capel when it was clear it would join with it.
Of course one cave that shouldn't be forgotten is Ogof Craig y Ffynnon.
Ogof Cynnes is a delight to those that like mud but also quite extensive with water traced to the Ffynnon Gisfaen resurgences in the Clydach Gorge.

Of these 8 caves, Ogof Draenen is the second longest in the UK (with some of the largest passages and many of the best formations), Agen Allwedd is fourth longest, Ogof Daren Cilau is fifth (with the largest passage and many impressive formations), and Ogof Craig A Ffynnon is tenth.
Ogof Craig A Ffynnon is considered to be one of the "best decorated caves in the UK".
Following this, the route was thought to have changed to its current route, to the North of the Trefil Moor and Mynydd Llangynidr, in between Mynydd Llangattock and The Sugar Loaf, and around the edge of The Blorenge.

 THE UBSS - Caving Areas of Britain - Access
The first you will probably encounter is Ogof Ffynnon Ddu (O.F.D.), the deepest cave in Britain (1010 ft).
Ogof Draenon is the new big find in South Wales with some of UBSS being involved in discovering and surveying what is a rapidly expanding cave Dan-yr-Ogof, Agen Allwedd ('Aggie'), Ogof-y-Daren Cilau ('Daren') and Ogof Craig-a-Ffynnon make up the rest.
One of the few middle-sized caves is the Little Neath River Cave, which was first explored by members of the UBSS in 1967.

Ogof Craig yr Ffynnon, named after the hotel, is situated above in an old quarry and is arguably one of the most beautiful caves in Britain.
Other nearby systems include Ogof Darren yr Cilau, Agen Allwedd and the recently discovered Ogof Draenen which is fast becoming the longest cave system in Britain.
These caves however are only for experienced cavers but the impressive show caves of Dan yr Ogof and Cathedral Cave are only a short drive away.

 2007 Club Trip Reports
Not breaking with tradition, our first club trip of the year was Craig a Ffynnon.
Back outside the rain was still pouring down so we walked back down to the vehicles, past the Drum and Monkey pub and through underpass to the other side of the dual carriageway.
We then went up the other original Ogof Capel entrance where the water was shooting out.

The key was found where it was supposed to be, and without further delay the inaugural meeting of the SSFCC was underway.
Ogof Craig a Ffynnon is a superb system, displaying much of what is best about Welsh caving: sporting climbs and crawls, twisting boulder chokes, great big stomping passage, and decorations to make your jaw drop.
I was impressed with the way all the party managed to keep up, and we made good time through the icy cold wallows of Gasoline Alley, and up through the first two boulder chokes.

If you are interested in discovering more about the diverse, often awesome, frequently beautiful, underground world that exists near to Brynmawr, then joining a caving club is probably the best and safest way to do this.

Access to the cave is only granted to bona fide cavers and is controlled by Grwp Ogofydd Craig A Ffynnon.
The cave is generally very easy with only a few crawls to reach the early sections.

In Agen Allwedd and Craig A Ffynnon, the use of carbide is explicitly forbidden.
In the other caves it is strongly recommended that carbide is not used, and all spent carbide must leave the cave as it is a pollutant and is unsightly.
There are no access restrictions to this cave, which lies within the Craig y Cilau Nature Reserve.
