	The Law and American Indian burial protections--Ohio laws
		Directs the Ohio Historical Society to maintain a State Registry of Archeological Landmarks to ensure that the scientific knowledge about prehistoric and historic North American Indian cultures is made available to the public and is not willfully or unnecessarily destroyed or lost.
		Directs the Ohio Historical Society, in consultation with the Ohio Archeological Council and the Archeological Society of Ohio, to adopt rules prescribing minimum education, training and experience requirements for personnel in charge of or otherwise engaging in archeological survey and salvage work, and prescribing scientific methods for undertaking such activities.
		Requires the director of the historical society to determine the historical or monetary value of all salvaged property before allowing its release, and to retain all such property that is determined to have historical value, or a percentage of all salvaged coin or currency that was intended for distribution as payroll.

		The Ohio Historical Society's distance learning programming transports students through time and place to historic venues, ranging from ice age glaciers and prehistoric mounds to log cabins and "safe houses" on the Underground Railroad.

		Students interact with the residents of the 1860 Ohio Village to help Rowena, a run-away slave, who is searching for assistance along her way to freedom, find the Underground Railroad conductor.

	My Scrapbook
		Guilford, secretary of the Western Emigrant Society, wrote to Thomas Rotch in 1817 regarding settlement of slaves in the Ohio country.
		From 1804 to 1857, African Americans in Ohio had to register their freedom papers with the clerk of courts of common pleas in the county where they desired to live or work.
		Quaker women of Clinton County, Ohio and Wayne County, Indiana who had been disowned by the mainstream Quaker meetings due to their anti-slavery activities made this quilt in 1842.

		The Ohio Historical Center is about a ten-minute drive north from downtown Columbus.

	Item Description
		The Miamisburg Mound is the largest conical burial mound in Ohio and possibly in the eastern United States.
		His historical views of Marietta and the mound earthworks located there, however, are some of his most important.
		These paintings provide documents of early Ohio settlement, some colored by stories told to him by early Washington County settlers, and some painted as he saw them in an era before photography was commonplace.

	History
		The Society currently owns and functions as steward for three historic buildings in Waterville, two of which are historical museums.
		Waterville’s historic landmark Roche de Boeuf and the old interurban bridge that is supported by it is commemorated by an Ohio Historical Society Bicentennial Marker dedicated on Roche de Boeuf Day, September 22, 2001.
		Lora Beckwith, chair of the Historical Sites and Logo Committee stated in her letter to the Bicentennial Commission, "Together they play a great part in the history of Ohio, and in the case of the limestone outcropping, with its connection to the Battle of Fallen Timbers, in the outcome of the Northwest Territory Settlement."

	Adena, The Ohio Historical Society
		The house is located on a hilltop in Chillicothe, Ohio, and is operated as a museum by the Ohio Historical Society (OHS).
		Worthington was a leader in the movement for Ohio statehood (achieved in 1803), one of Ohio’s first United States Senators (1803-1807, and 1810-1814), and the sixth governor of the state (1814-1818).

	Barberton Historical Society of Ohio featuring the Anna Dean Farm of O.C. Barber
