Bonds are backed by the full faith and credit of the state of Ohio and are expected to be rated AAA by Standard and Poor’s, AA+ by Fitch Ratings, and Aa1 by Moody’s Investors Service.
Prior to Treasurer Bradley’s introduction of the Buckeye Savers Program, these instruments were primarily purchased by large institutional investors, such as insurance companies and mutual funds.

Mary Ellen Withrow was confirmed unanimously by the Senate to be the 40th Treasurer of the United States on February 10 and sworn into office March 1, 1994.
She was elected as Ohio State Treasurer in 1982 and re-elected in 1986 and 1990.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - State Treasurer Joseph Deters should disclose all the details of his relationship with a Cleveland investment banker suspected of swindling clients out of millions of dollars, Deters' Democratic opponent in the November election said Thursday.
The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer reported on Wednesday that a fund-raiser for both Deters and the Hamilton County Republican Party solicited a $50,000 contribution for a party fund from Frank Gruttadauria.
The Plain Dealer reported that the $50,000 contribution was made before Gruttadauria completed trades worth $5.9 billion for the state treasurer's office.
